I know the remedy for pain.
I've tried it time and time again
when blinded so I could not see.
I reached and touched eternity
and felt God's love go out to me.
I know the pain of “might have been,”
I know the pain of “almost when,”
I know pain well — for in my youth
it followed me, like some lost Ruth,
on barren roads where I sought truth.
I know the remedy for pain:
Christ died for me, and not in vain
He bore the cutting marks of sin
to gain my life — o’er Satan win
love’s fullest final victory.
