They pushed me
and they prodded me,
bombarded me with blast
of scornful word
to make me fit
the mold that they had cast.
But every time
they thought they had me
nicely in a lump,
I started leaking
here and there
with every painful thump.
And in the end
they all gave up
and walked away and sneered,
but deep inside
the voice of Christ
stood up in me and cheered.
